DAY 01: HANOI ARRIVAL – NIGHT TRAIN TO LAO CAI (-/-/-)

Welcome to Hanoi - the capital of Vietnam and start your tour with us!

Transfer to Hanoi train station and depart to Lao Cai.

DAY 02: LAO CAI – SAPA – TREKKING Y LINH HO – LAO CHAI – TA VAN (B/-/-)

Accommodation: Homestay

Trekking: ~ 5-6 hours

The train arrives in the early morning at Lao Cai railway station (around 5am) and transfer to Sapa. Sapa is well-known for its stunning landscape of rice terrace and Indochina highest peak as well as its colorful ethnic minority culture.

Today, you will hike along the way for stunning scenery of Fansipan Mountain and Muong Hoa valley. You will also enjoy spectacular scenery while walking along a narrow river and rice paddy terraces. You eventually arrive in Y Linh Ho village of Black Hmong minority, where you can rest and visit several local families. After that, you will pass through Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority and then Ta Van village of Giay minority by following a very popular trekking route.

DAY 03: TREKKING TA VAN – GIANG TA CHAI – BAN HO (B/-/-)

Accommodation: Homestay

Meals included: Breakfast

Trekking: ~ 6 hours

Enjoy a cup of hot coffee or tea and discover your homestay’s surrounding area and the nearby rice fields. After breakfast, you will be retaken uphill into the mountain till the waterfalls of Giang Ta Chai.

You will then enter the Red Dao area where, together with your local guide, you will learn more in detail about their culture and daily life. After a short visit at a Red Dao family, you will then head back to the waterfalls by taking an alternative trail and across a second hanging bridge.

You will then have your lunch in Giang Ta Chai village at a small, local restaurant run by a Hmong family.

After the break, we will make our way to Su Pan, a community of the Black Hmong minority.

And then continue walking to Ban Ho village, where you will meet three ethnic minorities such as Red Dao, Tay, and the Black Hmong.

DAY 04: TREKKING BAN HO – NAM TOONG – MY SON – THANH PHU (B/-/-)

Trekking: ~ 6 hours

After an excellent breakfast in Ban Ho, we continue walking to the village Nam Toong, about 3km from Ban Ho.

In this village, you can learn everything about the Red Dzao minority that lives here. The Red Dzao are famous for the red scarfs they wear on their heads.

We will then follow a buffalo trail through sprawling rice terraces, taking in the spectacular views of Hoang Lien National Park as we make our way to My Son village.

Here you can meet the Xa Pho minority, one of the smallest tribes in the Sapa area.

We will spend the night in the village of Thanh Phu, where you enjoy local food and a warm bed in a Tay minority stilt house.

DAY 05: TREKKING THANH PHU – BAN HO – SAPA (B/-/-)

Accommodation: Hotel

Trekking: ~ 4-5 hours

After an excellent breakfast, we will walk from Thanh Phu back to Ban Ho by a different route, following the Muong Hoa River.

It is an easy but beautiful route to wind down from the last three days, and it will give you the chance to absorb as much of the remaining scenery as possible.

There will also be a chance to swim in the river if the weather is good (or even if it’s not if you are brave!).

Transport will be waiting in Ban Ho to take you back to Sapa for a well-deserved rest!

DAY 06: SAPA – EXPLORE LOCAL MARKET – BAO YEN – CINNAMON PLANTATION (B/-/-)

Distance: ~ 130km, ~ 3-hour drive (depending on traffic)

After experiencing local market, transfer to Bao Yen. There will be time for you to experience planting and harvesting cinnamon alongside the local people. This will be a special experience and one we believe is a unique opportunity for you in Vietnam.

DAY 07: TREKKING LOCAL VILLAGE & WATERFALL – NIGHT TRAIN TO HANOI (B/-/-)

Accommodation: Night train

Trek through the quiet valley trails, past terraced rice fields, cinnamon forests and beautiful natural waterfalls. Visit the mountain villages around the Cinnamon farm, where your guide will introduce you to the flower H'mong and black and white Tay people who live there. Visit and swim in a local waterfall.

In the afternoon, transfer to Lao Cai Station and depart to Hanoi.

DAY 08: HANOI DEPARTURE (B/-/-)

The train arrives in the early morning at Hanoi railway station (around 5am). Have breakfast then transfer to the airport for onward flight or continue your journey.

For Asia Mystika Travel Experiences (excursions and day trips) children between the ages of 4 and 11, at dates of travel, will receive a 15% discount off the Adult price (based on total travelers - adults + children 4 -11), unless specified otherwise in a proposal.
